Welcome to our January 2017 journal.
In this issue, we celebrate Nordic film and television in 2016 by speaking to the biggest names in the film industry about their year, plus where we can see them next year.
Our feature film is Tom of Finland, the Finnish film due for release in February that’s already been tagged as one of the biggest releases of 2017. We talk to the director, Dome Karukoski, about the development and production of this very important film about one of Finland’s most influential artists.
We are also on the ground at major Nordic film festivals the Stockholm Film Festival, CPH:PIX, the Nordic Film Days and the International Documentary Festival in Amsterdam. At these festivals, we take a look at the best new Nordic films that will be coming to your country soon!
At the Nordic Film Days, we speak to Baltasar Kormákur about Icelandic filmmaking; at the Stockholm Film Festival we take a look at the Icelandic horror Child Eater, and at the IDFA we talk to Sebastian Cordes about A Place Called Lloyd and slow cinema, and we look at the award-winning Danish documentary Who We Were.
